Major Canal to obtain water quality information or on a Monitoring Site for site information.
Water Quality information is based on the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Water Quality Index (WQI) for fresh water and Trophic State Index (TSI) for estuarine water. The WQI/TSI is determined using a variety of chemical and biological parameters (excluding macroinvertebrates) and rates a water body as good, fair or poor as compared to statewide average conditions.
The Broward County Health Department advises that the public not swim or eat fish from bodies of water that are not approved as bathing places. Presently in Broward County there are four parks with approved swimming areas: CB Smith, T-Y, Quiet Waters and Snyder Park. The ocean is also safe for swimming.
